New Session

It is time to start enrolling for the winter session of cooking classes. There are two days of level 1 and one day for level 3. These are 12 week classes taking us from the second week of January through the end of March.

The big change this year is that I am now asking you to pay for half of the session up front and the rest by week six of the session.

Thank you to every one who made last year so enjoyable! I’m looking forward to continuing to work with some of you and to meet new faces who are eager to learn their way around the kitchen.

First Week has been great!

We have now finished our first week of class–Photos coming soon. I was so excited to get started that I crammed class 1 and 2 together into the first lesson. What was I thinking? Well, I was just talking about all of the basics and it just happened. We only went 20 minutes over the time, and I don’t think anyone minded. Now we will get to just cook, cook, cook!

I think the students really enjoyed their homemade waffles. Everyone did a great job separating eggs. They didn’t even have to crack all of them before they experienced success. With a little more practice it will be perfect every time.

I did learn something very important from the first session that improved my teaching for the second session. I’m not just teaching cooking, I have to be prepared to teach the necessary math (fractions) as well. I spent Wednesday preparing some visuals for the second session. I will go over fractions again with the first session next week so that it makes more sense to them.

All in all…I’m loving this experience! I hope my students love it too.
